BIO

Alan Williamson is an emerging self-taught mixed media artist whose influences include Ralph Steadman, George Condo, Egon Schiele, Terry Mosher, and comic books he read when he was 11 years old.

As one who has never felt comfortable in his own skin, he works out the knots in his psyche by creating all manner of face and skin in his drawings, paintings, and mixed media work.

Alan Williamson now resides in Southern Ontario.

STATEMENT

I am an untrained artist whose work, when not straight-up drawing, is always an experiment, sometimes a happy one. All the faces you see are imaginary, I always find a face in the marks, or in whatever I happen to be looking at.

I have used acrylic paint and ink, many types of markers, highlighters, oil stick and pencil to experiment on surfaces ranging from hardboard to canvas, watercolour paper to found paper and cardboard .
